Support to find employment or training

We have specialist education, employment and training advisors who take over from the Virtual School when you turn 18. Their job is to work with you to help you find the training, job and education that is right for you.

Employment Support

We believe that employment is the most important way for young people to develop independence and build strong support networks. Young people who are not in education, training or employment (NEET) are supported in the following ways: 

Direct Referral
We will directly refer you to our partners to support you into various employment opportunities

Work Placements      
We work with a number of employers (work placement partners) in Southwark to provide 2-3 week work placements. 

Support finding an apprenticeship

Apprenticeship Bursary
£1,000 Department for Education (DfE) funded apprenticeship bursary (16-24 year olds) to meet the costs of transitioning into work and support in the first year of your apprenticeship. 

Summer internship
If you are in Year 13, you can apply for a paid summer internship via The Brokerage.  You’ll have access to:

  • Pre-interview coaching
  • CV support
  • Mock assessment centres
  • Insight days
  • Networking events
  • Masterclasses

Support if you’ve just started a job

When you start a job, we want to help!
We can provide some help with job-related expenses such as clothing (for work and interviews), help with travel expenses until you are on your feet, money for lunches and food until you are paid – we will agree this as a part of your Pathway Plan.
